ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the mental health of pediatricians in Guangzhou and its influencing factors, and to provide countermeasures for improving the mental health of pediatricians. MethodsA stratified random sampling method was used to randomly select 400 pediatricians in 11 districts of Guangzhou, and they were surveyed using the Symptom Check List(SCL-90) and the Job Stressor Scale. ResultsThe top three job stressors scored by pediatricians in Guangzhou were external environment (3.23±0.59), workload (3.19±0.56), and organizational management (2.74±0.55). All factor scores were higher than those of the clinician group except for career interest, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). The number of pediatricians with mental health problems was 109, accounting for 27.25%. All factor scores were higher than the physician norm except for anxiety and paranoia. The correlations between each factor of work stressors and each factor of SCL-90 were positive and statistically significant (P<0.05), except for two pairs of factors, workload and terror as well as external environment and terror. The results of univariate analysis showed statistically significant differences in the mental health scores of pediatricians with different health status, years of work experience, job satisfaction, job stress, and career prospects (P<0.05). The results of multiple linear regression showed that health status, years of work experience, professional interest, interpersonal relationship, and doctor-patient relationship were influential factors in the mental health of pediatricians (P<0.05). ConclusionThe mental health of pediatricians in Guangzhou is unsatisfactory, and the factors affecting them are mainly external objective factors such as workload and organizational management.

ABSTRACT

@#AIM: To investigate the changes of ocular surface and tear film before and after double eyelid operation with incision method.<p>METHODS: Ocular surface disease index questionnaire survey, S I t, break-up time of tear film(BUT), corneal fluorescein staining, tear fern test(TFT)and conjunctive impression cytology were examined at 17 patients(34 eyes)to evaluate function of ocular surface and tear film before and after the double eyelid operation with incision method.<p>RESULTS: There was significant difference in ocular surface disease index questionnaire survey scores before and after surgery(<i>P</i><0.001). The score increased within 2wk postoperatively. There was significant difference in corneal fluorescein staining scores before and after surgery(<i>P</i>=0.008). The corneal epithelial staining spots increased within one day postoperatively. There was significant difference in S I t result before and after surgery(<i>P</i><0.001)and it increased within 2wk postoperatively. There was significant difference in conjunctive impression cytology before and after surgery(<i>P</i><0.001). Conjunctival goblet cells reduced within 1d postoperatively. There was no significant difference statistically in BUT of tear film and TFT before and after surgery(<i>P</i>>0.05).<p>CONCLUSION:In the early stage after surgery, patients showed obvious discomfort and irritation symptoms, and the corneal and conjunctival epithelium was slightly damaged. With the reconstruction of the ocular surface microenvironment and removal of sutures, all test results recovered to the preoperative level.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the resection range of mesorectum and rectum below the inferior margin of tumor for the total mesorectum excision (TME) in middle-low rectal cancer.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Sixty patients were enrolled in the study. After TME operation, serial 5 mm interval sections were made in specimens of middle-low rectal cancer. The retrograde metastasis of rectal cancer was observed by routine HE staining.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The phenomena of retrograde metastasis in mesorectum were found in 15 cases, and the distance of retrograde metastasis was 0.5-4.0(2.47+/-1.06) cm, which was correlated with Dukes stage, lymph node metastasis and histological differentiation. The retrograde metastases in bowel were found in 11 cases, and the distance of retrograde metastasis was 0.5-4.0 (1.64+/-1.16) cm, which was correlated with histological differentiation.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The distal mesorectum should be resected at least 4 cm when TME is carried out, and the distal bowel at least 2.5 cm. More than 5 cm mesorectum and bowel should be resected when advanced Dukes stage, extensive lymph node metastasis and poor histological differentiation occurred.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect of movement exercise combined with electroaeupuneture on the expression of Nestin in the hippocampus dentate gyrus (DG) after cerebral ischemia-repeffusion.Methods Fifty- four Wistar rats were used and randomly divided into a control group (Group A),an exercise training group (Group B),and an exercise training combined with electroacupuncture group (Group C).The middle cerebral arteries (MCA) of all the rats were occluded for 1 h,followed by reperfusion for 7,14 and 21 davs.Immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of Nestin in the hippoeampus dentate gyrus. Results The number of Nes- tin-positive cells peaked in DG in all groups on the 7th day after cerebral isehemia-reperfusion.The number of Nes- tin-positive cells in DG ipsilateral to the ischemia-reperfusion lesion were significantly more than those in the opposite side at various time points (P
